The Opportunity

Manufacturing Tech Senior Engineer

  • Overview


    The role of the IXM Senior Chemical Engineer is to provide technical support, guidance and oversight to the process systems of the manufacturing area with a focus on safety, operability and process improvement practices. The role includes implementation of improvement projects and is part of a team supporting a larger integrated development program aimed at improving plant operations. The IXM area produces Nafion™ products for the Advanced Performance Materials businesses within Chemours.

  • Responsibilities


    Provide Chemical Engineering support to the Nafion manufacturing area unit operations.

    Provide Chemical Engineering expertise for project work to ensure its compliance with specifications, engineering standards and quality assurance.

    Initiate or review Changes of Designs (COD $500M Capital projects.

    Provide chemical expertise for troubleshooting, maintaining and modifying operating equipment and facilities.

    Provide technical troubleshooting and training to the operating and maintenance teams.

    Lead the implementation of process quality and yield improvement programs.

    Participate and lead PSM criticality assessment process, Process Hazards Analyses and Incident Investigations.

  • Qualifications


    In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:

    BS degree in Chemical Engineering.

    Minimum 3 years of Chemical Engineering work experience.

    Basic understanding of the principles of:

     Data analysis techniques and statistical interpretation skills.

     Basic Unit Operations in chemical processes.

     Root cause failure analysis (RCFA) and failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA).

     Engineering design standards and their application.

     Cost/Capital analysis and justification.

    The following skill sets are preferred by the business unit:

    Knowledge of polymer manufacturing.

    Six Sigma certified as Green Belt preferred.

    Process Safety Management (PSM) experience.
